Ron Dreher – Government Affairs Director
Ron Dreher began his law enforcement career in 1971 and retired honorably from the Reno Police Department in 1999 where he was assigned as a Major Crimes Detective. Ron served in the 173rd Airborne of the U.S. Army, which included a tour in Vietnam. Ron holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Nevada Reno and has a distinguished resume of professional courses he has taken in the field of professional labor organizations. He served on the Reno Police Protective Association board from 1983-2003 in many capacities, to include two tours as President.
Ron has a long track record of assisting a number of agencies statewide with a myriad of issues from being a Chief Negotiator for labor negotiations to representing members in disciplinary / discharge issues. He has proven to be one of the biggest advocates for professional peace officers in the State of Nevada.
As the Government Affairs Director, Ron represents PORAN at the State Legislature where he has lobbied for and against bills that impact the police officers in this state.
Don Gil – Secretary
Don is currently the Secretary of PORAN and has served in this capacity for the past 4 years. Don Gil has worked for the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office for 21 years where he is currently a Lieutenant. Don has served as the Treasurer for the Washoe County Sheriff’s Supervisory Deputies Association for 4 years and is currently the President of that organization. Don is currently the Chief Negotiator for his bargaining unit and continues to represent his membership in all labor related issues.
